Cabin Comfort Thermal Analysis with TAITherm, OpenFOAM, and FMI/FMU Coupling

Thursday, January 27, 2022 | 9:00-9:45AM EST

Join us for our live webinar Thursday, January 27, 9:00 AM EST as ThermoAnalytics’ field application engineer Vishnuvardhan Ranganathan demonstrates a transient coupling methodology between our TAITherm thermal solver, OpenFOAM CFD solver, and a 1-D HVAC FMU (Functional Mock-up Unit).

This coupling offers the usability and accuracy of TAITherm for thermal modeling as well as the scalability and cost-efficiency of OpenFOAM for CFD analysis. By using CoTherm, these platforms are coupled seamlessly, offering OpenFOAM processes within CoTherm’s usable interface. This study demonstrates the advantages of using a thermal/CFD/1-D coupling to simulate automotive cabin design, improving thermal accuracy and passenger comfort predictions while also incorporating HVAC component models.
